Why the used list is short
Almost every used trailer we sell arrives as a trade-in, usually from somebody moving up a size. That makes the supply unpredictable: some weeks there are several, some weeks none. It also means the used trailers that come through are local ones with a known history rather than auction buys.
Two things follow from that. If you are watching for a particular size, it is worth telling us rather than checking back, and if you have one to trade in, that is how the next person finds theirs.
What to look at on any used trailer
Whether you buy it here or privately, the same handful of things decide whether a used trailer is a bargain or a project.
Frame and welds. Surface rust is normal on a Michigan trailer. Flaking rust at the welds, a bent tongue or a repair that looks improvised is a different matter.
Tires. Check the date code on the sidewall, not just the tread. Trailer tires age out before they wear out, and a trailer that sat for three seasons is often on tires older than the mileage suggests.
Bearings and brakes. Grab each wheel and feel for play, and listen on the first tow. On a braked trailer, find out whether the brakes are electric and whether they still work.
Floor, lights and coupler. Soft spots in the deck, wiring that has been spliced more than once, a coupler that does not latch cleanly, missing safety chains.
Title and VIN. Match the number on the frame to the paperwork before money changes hands.
None of that is fatal on its own. Bearings, brakes, springs, wiring, jacks and couplers are routine jobs, and our service department does them on any make or model, including trailers bought somewhere else.
Used or new
Used makes sense when the size you need is expensive new, which is usually the case with enclosed cargo trailers and car haulers. It makes less sense on the smallest utility trailers, where a new one starts close enough that the maintenance you inherit can wipe out the difference.
Worth comparing before you decide: utility trailers, enclosed cargo trailers and car haulers, or the clearance center, where new units are marked down.

Used Trailer FAQs
Sometimes, and they sell quickly. Everything used on the lot today is listed on this page. If a used utility trailer is what you want, tell us the size and we will let you know when one comes through, rather than you checking back.
Same answer: whatever is here is listed above. Used enclosed trailers are the ones people ask for most and they are the quickest to go, so it is worth telling us what size you are after.
Trade-ins, mostly from customers moving up a size. They are local trailers rather than auction buys, which is why the list is short and why it changes week to week.
Yes. The trade-in page is the place to start, and a trade can go against anything on the lot.
Yes. Our service department works on any make or model: wheel bearing repacks, electric brake jobs, springs and suspension, wiring and lights, jacks and couplers, tires, and welding and fabrication.
Frame and welds, the date code on the tires, bearings and brakes, the floor, the wiring, the coupler and chains, and that the VIN matches the title. The section above goes through each one.
