All-aluminum enclosed haulers, built in Indiana
NEO is the brand people come in asking for by name, usually because they have seen one that is ten years old and still straight. The whole trailer is aluminum, from frame to skin to floor, and the model range runs from a small single axle box up to long tandem sled and car haulers. Our NEO stock covers enclosed cargo and snowmobile models across a wide span of lengths, and it is all listed below.
Reading a NEO model number before you shop
NEO codes look impenetrable on a listing page and are actually quite logical once someone points at the pattern. Getting comfortable with them saves a lot of scrolling.
The letters tell you the body, the numbers tell you the size
A NEO model number opens with NA for the all-aluminum line, then a letter or two for the body style, then digits for the size. In the middle of the number you will find the width and length, so a 167 is a sixteen foot box on a seven wide body and a 2975 is a twenty nine footer on a seven and a half. The trailing letters and digits describe the roof profile, the axle package and the door arrangement. If two listings look identical apart from a suffix, that suffix is usually the roof or the ramp.
Round top versus flat top, and the height you get
The curved roof models buy you interior height down the center of the trailer without raising the overall towing height much, which is what you want if you are standing up inside to work or loading something tall in the middle. Flat tops give you a more usable rectangle for boxed cargo and a lower profile in a crosswind. Neither is better. It depends whether your load is tall in the middle or tall at the edges.
Ratings from small single axle up to 9,990
The range we see runs from light single axle boxes in the 2,500 to 2,990 pound class, which most SUVs will tow, through 7,000 pound tandems, up to 9,990 pound units for car and equipment work. The jump from single to tandem axle is not just capacity, it is stability and the fact that a tandem has brakes on more wheels. If you are near the top of a rating on paper, go up a class rather than planning to load carefully forever.
The snowmobile models are a different animal
NEO builds dedicated sled trailers with the fit-out that matters in February: a low deck to keep the loading angle sane, a front ramp door on the longer models so you can drive through instead of backing sleds out, tie-down tracks in the floor and interior height that lets you stand beside a machine with a helmet on. A general purpose cargo box will carry sleds, but you will notice every one of those details missing on the first cold morning.
Why aluminum matters more here than in Texas
West Michigan puts salt brine on the roads for four or five months and then drives trailers through it. A steel frame in that environment is on a clock, and you spend the summer touching up what the winter found. Aluminum takes that failure mode off the table entirely, which is a large part of why NEO holds its value on the resale market here. The running gear, the brakes and the wiring still need an annual look, because those are steel and copper regardless of what the frame is made from.
NEO trailer questions
The frame, skin, roof and floor structure are aluminum, which is what the all-aluminum description refers to. Axles, brakes, fasteners and wiring are conventional components, so those still want an annual inspection.
It encodes the body style, then the width and length, then the roof and axle package. A sixteen foot seven wide enclosed model and a twenty nine foot seven and a half wide sled trailer are both readable straight off the number once you know the pattern. Ask us to decode a specific one.
Round tops give more height down the center of the trailer and suit tall loads and working inside. Flat tops give a more usable rectangle for stacked cargo and sit a little lower. Choose based on the shape of what you are carrying.
Yes, and NEO builds models specifically for it with a low deck, floor tracks and, on longer units, a front ramp door so you can load straight through. Those details make a real difference compared with using a general cargo box.
In this part of the country they tend to, because the frame does not rust out the way a steel one does on salted roads. That is one of the reasons used NEO units sell quickly here.
