Aluminum decks built around the machine you ride

Triton has spent decades building aluminum trailers for powersports, and the range reflects that focus rather than trying to be everything to everyone. Sleds, quads and side by sides are what these are designed around, with aluminum frames, torsion suspension and deck arrangements meant to be loaded by one person. Anything we have in from Triton appears below, and we can order what is not.

Where a Triton earns the price difference

A powersports trailer looks simple and is not. The differences between a cheap one and a good one are all in places you do not see in a photograph: the suspension, the deck surface and what happens to the frame after five winters.

Torsion suspension instead of leaf springs

Torsion axles use rubber cords inside the axle tube rather than a stack of leaf springs. They ride noticeably smoother over frost heaves, they have no shackles or bushings to wear out, and they sit lower, which drops the deck height and with it your loading angle. They cannot be re-arched if they sag and they are replaced rather than rebuilt, which is the trade you are accepting.

Aluminum, and why it matters on a sled trailer specifically

A snowmobile trailer spends its whole working life in salt and slush, parked wet, then sitting all summer. That is about the harshest service a small trailer sees. An aluminum frame simply does not participate in that failure mode, which is why the resale market on aluminum sled trailers here is so much stronger than on steel.

Tilt decks versus a fixed deck and ramps

A tilting deck meets the ground so there is nothing to lift or store, which is the difference between loading a sled alone and needing a hand. A fixed deck with a ramp is simpler, has no pivot to maintain and is usually lighter and cheaper. If you load by yourself in the dark at a trailhead, the tilt is worth the money. If you load at home with help, it may not be.

Sizing for sleds, quads and side by sides

Machines have grown. A deck that carried two sleds comfortably fifteen years ago is tight with two modern mountain sleds, and a full size side by side is wider than most people expect. Measure your machine, including skis or trailing arms, then add room at each end so you have somewhere to pull tie-downs down to. Bring those numbers with you and we will match a deck to them.

Tongue weight and what you are towing with

These trailers are light, which tempts people to load them nose heavy and tow them with whatever is in the driveway. Keep roughly ten to fifteen percent of the loaded weight on the tongue, check the trailer sits level, and confirm your vehicle hitch class and wiring before the first trip. A light trailer loaded badly still sways.

Triton trailer questions

What does Triton build?+

Aluminum trailers for powersports, meaning snowmobiles, ATVs and side by sides, in both open deck and enclosed forms. They are not a general purpose cargo brand, so if you need a work trailer we would point you at something else on the lot.

What is a torsion axle and is it better?+

It uses rubber cords inside the axle tube instead of leaf springs. It rides smoother, has nothing to wear out in shackles and bushings, and sits lower so the deck is lower. If it ever fails it is replaced rather than repaired.

Should I get a tilt deck?+

If you load alone, yes. The deck meets the ground so there are no ramps to carry or align. If you usually have help and want the simplest possible trailer, a fixed deck with a ramp is lighter and cheaper.

What length deck do two snowmobiles need?+

It depends entirely on the machines, and modern sleds are longer than older ones. Measure both including the skis, then add working room at each end for tie-down angles. Bring the measurements and we will size it properly.

Do you have Tritons in stock?+

Whatever is here is listed above and it moves with the season. If nothing shown fits, tell us the machine and the deck style and we will get a build quoted for you.
